About Us
Founded in 2019, AboutBit is a Kentucky-based startup born from a collective past experience of over 30 years in the data center and application hosting space. Team leaders and founders Stacy Griggs, Wade Lewis, Dan Kimball, Richard Teachout and Chris Porter saw the changes coming in the power and compute needs of several sectors within the distributed computing space — and crafted a unique solution to develop modular, rapidly deployable infrastructure that could be located at or near power sources easily and cost effectively. By challenging the paradigm of the traditional data center location strategy of locating the facility close to end users rather than power sources, AboutBit’s team instead realized the value of locating the facility close to power source and then bringing the connectivity to that location. In doing so, the new facilities are able to leverage power purchase agreements in excess of 100 MW each, while also providing a development strategy that allows the site to grow with increased flexibility to meet the ever-changing needs of clients. In addition to providing new high-tech growth to traditionally non tech-focused communities, this strategy provides a robust backbone for users that are deploying rack densities exceeding 50 kW per rack, lending itself to deployments of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, High Performance Computing, and Blockchain operations.
